Charnwood Museum

The Museum offers a permanent exhibition together with two galleries for monthly rotating exhibitions.
The permanent exhibitions are in four areas:
Coming to Charnwood
The Natural World of Charnwood
Living off the Land
Earning a Living.

Each contains exhibits from the past and present including interactive displays. Activities include a computer game about Loughborough, a microscope and handling rocks from Charnwood's volcanic past. Walk below the giant oak tree and through a shop "time capsule" with fittings and products dating from 1860-1950 and view the locally made Auster aeroplane, suspended from the ceiling.

Opening Times
Open all year round:
Monday to Saturday 10:00-16:30.
Sunday 13:00-16:00 November to March) and 14:00-17:00 (April to October)
We will be open on Bank Holiday Monday 24th March 2008 from 13:00-16:00.

We have 1 disabled parking spot at the front of Charnwood Museum. Please call for details.

LOUGHBOROUGH WAR MEMORIAL AND CARILLON

Queens Park, Loughborough. Tel : 01509 263370/231667
Built in 1922 as a War Memorial. It houses 47 bells, crafted by the local John Taylor Bellfoundry, and its tones can be heard during the regular Thursday and Sunday afternoon concerts in summer months. A full 2007 Recital timetable is available on the Carillon Website. Inside the building, there is a wealth of exhibits and material relating to all branches of the armed Services with considerable material relating to both World Wars and especially the local links with American forces stationed in Leicestershire during World War II. From the viewing gallery at the top of the Carillon, there are excellant views of the Charnwood area.

OLD RECTORY MUSEUM
Rectory Place, Loughborough
A small museum close to Loughborough Parish Church. The building is the restored part of a Rectory dating from the early 13th century. The exhibits relate to local interest and history.
