The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 introduced a new type of plan called a Local Development Framework. This is made up of a series of documents called Local Development Documents (LDDs). LDDs will provide the planning framework for the consideration of planning applications by the Borough Council. They replace the previous system of plan making, which comprised Local Plans and Structure Plans.
- Affordable Housing Economic Viability Assessment
Charnwood Borough Council have commissioned Three Dragons to undertake an Affordable Housing Economic Viability Assessment. This assessment will inform the Local Plan policy on affordable housing and also inform negotiations on individual planning applications. In 2006 Charnwood Borough Council along with Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, Rutland County Council, Blaby District Council, Harborough District Council, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Melton Borough Council, North West Leicestershire District Council and Oadby & Wigston Borough Council commissioned the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies at the University of Birmingham, with John Bloxsom of John Bloxsom Housing Services, to carry out a Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Needs Assessment for the Study Area of Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
