Local development plans

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 introduced a new type of plan called a Local Development Framework. This is made up of a series of documents called Local Development Documents (LDDs). LDDs will provide the planning framework for the consideration of planning applications by the Borough Council. They replace the previous system of plan making, which comprised Local Plans and Structure Plans.

  • Affordable Housing Economic Viability Assessment

    Charnwood Borough Council have commissioned Three Dragons to undertake an Affordable Housing Economic Viability Assessment. This assessment will inform the Local Plan policy on affordable housing and also inform negotiations on individual planning applications. The assessment will be available to download on this webpage when it is completed.

  • Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document

    This Supplementary Planning Document will clarify the Council’s policies on affordable housing. It increases the proportion of affordable homes the Council will seek to negotiate a minimum of 30% affordable housing on new housing schemes and sets clear guidelines about how the Council will determine the type and tenure of new housing as well as its design and layout.
