If you are receiving Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit but it does not meet your full rent then you can apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment.
It is not a payment of benefit but is extra financial help available from the Council. The amount the Council can pay each year is limited by Central Government. Once the limit has been spent we cannot make any new awards until the next financial year.
