Pension credits were introduced from 6th October 2003. It replaced Minimum Income Guarantee for people aged 60 or over from 6th October 2003. It will also reward people over 65 who have made provision for their retirement through either a second pension or by saving money.

Whatdoes Pension Credit do?

It providesa guaranteed income level for single people aged 60 or over and for couples. This is called Guaranteed Credit.

These amounts may increase if you or your partner are:

  • Severely disabled
  • Look after someone who is severely disabled
  • Have certain housing costs
