Disability
In the 2001 Census, 15% of the population of Charnwood stated they had a limiting long-term illness with 7.3% of the population having not good health. This makes up a significant amount of the population and therefore, considering the needs of people with disabilities when we design our services and carry out recruitment is important if we can to meet the needs of everyone within Charnwood. 10% of people in Charnwood also provide some kind of unpaid care.
The services the Council provides are often of most need to particularly vulnerable people within the community. This can include people with a wide variety of disabilities. Therefore, it is even more important that we get our services right for people with disabilities particularly the more debilitating disabilities.
