Some progress on Outwoods Drive Parking

Posted Mon 14th January, 2008 by Cllr. Peter Lewis

I can now report that County Council Officers have set in progress parking restrictions at both ends of Outwoods Drive. I received notice on 11th January, and have been in touch with David walker and Ron Jukes. The Members' Group of the Highways Forum meets on 16th. So far it is clear no one system would fit all, and in Nanpantan, with exception of Coniston Crescent, many feel the present system works if it is properly enforced. We now have to address the more controversial parking on Outwoods Drive. There is a view that if there was less parking, the road would be an even worse rat-run! But should authorities condone parking on both sides and on pavements as a form of unofficial speed control? Surely not. This next stage has now to be addressed further, and recommendations will go to full Highways Forum from the Members' Group. Rest assured David, Ron and I are working on this and it is never put on the back burner! But I am very pleased to report that our united efforts have made some progress.
