Moving House
Taxpayers who move house within Charnwood usually retain the same account number following their move. This makes it easier to administer the account since methods of payment, account balances, joint liabilities and so on do not need to be set up again or linked to previous accounts.
Taxpayers moving out of the Borough or moving to a property for which they have no Council Tax liability will be asked to provide a forwarding address. This will allow the Council to issue a final Council Tax bill for payment, or to issue a refund if Council Tax has been overpaid.
The Council should be informed of any change of address which may affect liability to pay Council Tax. Information will be taken in writing (by letter or e.mail) or by telephone. A form may be issued to confirm the information received or to allow a taxpayer to claim for any discount, reduction or exemption which may be applicable.
