Church of St Mary, Bradgate Road - Grade II
Church of C14/15 and 1846. Charnwood granite rubble stone with stone dressings and slate roof with stone coped gables. W tower, nave, aisles and chancel. Tower of C14/C15 but restored, remainder completely rebuilt in 1846. Tower of 3 stages with gargoyles and battlements. Low W door with perp 2 light window above and 4 similar bell openings, renewed tracery. Remainder has steppind buttresses and angle buttresses, some rising in crocketted finials. Windows have curvilinear type tracery with hood moulds and label stops. Norman style door in N wall W end. S door with ogee shaped carved surround. Nave and aisle of 4 bays. Interior: arcades of moulded arches springing from clustered piers. Clerestory of small trefoils. Open truss type roof springs from carved corbels. Similar roof to chancel, here painted. Windows have hoodmoulds and label stops. E window bottom lights blind, otherwise stained glass of 1904. Stained glass in S.E. (1901) and a S (1920) window. Fixed hatchment, possibly plaster on N wall.

Heard Family Tombs in Churchyard, Bradgate Road - Grade II
Double table tomb of 1740 and 1803 and headstones of 1739 and 1743. Stone and slate and surrounded by iron railings with wavy spear finials and urns on corners. Abutting the plinth are two fine slate headstones. These monuments to the Heard family lie S of S aisle of church.

Shaft of Former Cross, Bradgate Road - Grade II
Shaft of former cross of medieval period. Stone shaft of c1½m on octagonal stone base. Angles chamfered so as to form an octagon, but much weathered.

Wall of Churchyard, Bradgate Road - Grade II
Wall of late C18/C19. Granite and slate rubble stone, part brick coped with 2 pairs of stone piers and cast iron gates in Gothic style of 2 leaves. Surrounds churchyard on 3 sides including that facing Church Lane. Included for group value with church.

No. 72, Bradgate Road - Grade II
Cottage of c1800. Red brick with Swithland slate roof and ridge stack centre left. 2 storeys of 3 windows : ground floor paired 8/8 sashes or sash and fixed light: cambered lintels, 2 and 3 light casements or horizontal sliding sashes above. Door to left. Door on right end and C20 2 light casement above. Group value with No. 1 Groby Road which adjoins.

No. 102, Bradgate Road - Grade II
House of c1800. Rendered red brick with Swithland slate roof and end stacks on main range and left wing. Three storey main range with 2 storey wings and 1½ storey extension to left of left wing; gable ends to road. Main range of two 3 light casements, cambered lintels; original centre doorway with sidelights replaces right window. Left wing has 3 light casements and door with 3 light casement over. Right wing has 8/8 sash with 4/8 sash over. Right end of right wing adjoining road has early C20 polygonal bay, part with leaded lights. Two and 3 light casements to rear.

No. 2, Stable and Wall, Church Lane - Grade II
Cottage of c1800. Painted red brick and slate rubble stone part rendered with Swithland slate roof and 3 brick end stacks. L plan, wing now entrance adjoining street. Original front to left adjoins churchyard. Two storeys, original front of a 3 light horizontal sliding sash both floors either side of blocked door with similar 2 light over. Cambered lintels and stone sills. Street side has door with renewed C20 window left and same to right with 3 light horizontal sliding sash over. A C19 granite and slate rubble stone and red brick stable adjoins cottage and churchyard. Swithland slate roof. Doors and door with rounded arched lintel and two casements over face rear yard. Stone sills. One 2 light casement to churchyard. Surrounding two sides of yard a granite and slate rubble stone wall with stone coping and two end piers.

No. 55 (includes 2a Cater’s Close), Church Lane - Grade II
House of c1800 at some time two. Red brick, Flemish bond, with brick bracketed eaves and slate roof with end stacks. Three storeys of three sashes, ground and first floor with gauged brick lintels. Tripartite 6/6 sashes with 4/4 sashes in centre above earlier C19 pair of doorcases forming one unit. Part glazed doors. These either side of blocked original doorway of which rounded arch and fanlight remain. Chamfered ceiling beams inside.

No. 22 The Elms, Cropston Road (north side) - Grade II
House, 1835/6. For Samuel Burchall, a local brewer. Buff brick in Flemish bond with Swithland slate roof and brick end stacks. Two storeys; 3 window range of 2/2 sashes under gauged brick lintels. Central doorway with 6 panel door, overlight and bootscrapers up stone steps. Two wings to rear have some windows with horizontal sliding glazing bar sashes. Interior retains marble hall floor, stick baluster staircase with wreathed handrail, two marble fireplaces and 6 and 4 panel doors. The land was acquired in 1834, the house built by Daniel Simpson and it was first rated in 1836. (Information from owner great grand daughter of Samuel Burchall).

Outbuilding at No. 22, Cropston Road - Grade II
House, now outbuilding of c1700, altered and heightened mid C19. Red brick part diapered, with granite rubble stone on lower left end, brick eaves and moulded and dentilled brick stringcourse segmentally arched over blocked openings. Swithland slate roof with rebuilt brick left end stack. 2½ storeys, 2 blocked openings, with 2 light leaded casement 1st floor left. On left end a small 2 light window with blocked window over and C20 window in attic. On right end a 1st floor 3 light window. Double and single stable doors to rear.

No. 1, Groby Road - Grade II
House of 1767. Red brick with part stone plinth, brick dentilled eaves and Swithland slate roof with end stacks. L plan, rear wing to Bradgate Road. Three storeys of 3 windows, 3 light casements either side of door with 2 light over; all with cambered lintels. Renewed 2 light casements in attic. Doorway has wooden doorcase with flat hood on brackets. Right end gable contains small slate tablet with M.H. 1767. Rear wing has renewed ground floor 3 light casement, end stack and 2 light casement in gable. Group value with No. 72 Bradgate Road which adjoins.

No. 3 (The Limes), Groby Road - Grade II
House of late C16/C17 with later alterations. Red brick, part with black headers, part diapered, with some timbering and C20 shingle roof with right end stack and left end stack on front roof below ridge. Gable centre right with king post and struts overhangs slightly. Similar on rear. 2 storeys of 2 renewed 3 light casements. At 1st floor level, under gable traces of former jettying. Lower one storey wing to right with asbestos type roof and central ridge stack. Here doorcase with 6 panelled door and C20 3 and 1 light casements to right. Left end with two 1 light casements ground floor and truss in gable with clasped principal rafters, 2 collars and struts. Casement in centre. To rear mostly renewed 2, 3 and 4 light casements and door. C19 pigsty and stable extend from right end and cobbled yard to right and rear.

Stable Block at No. 3, Groby Road - Grade II
Stable block of early C19. Red brick with granite and slate rubble stone gable ends and brick coped gables with asbestos type roof. Stable and garage doors with hayloft door above and wooden steps up. Included for group value with No. 3.

Boundary Stone, NE Mill Farm, Gynsill Lane - Grade II
Boundary stone probably placed in medieval period. Stone projecting c2m from ground, placed at point where old ridge and furrow undulations change direction. Position is c100m from Gynsill Lane near junction with Leicester Road.

Pack Horse Bridge, The Leys, Leicester Road - Grade II* Scheduled Ancient Monument
Pack horse bridge of C16/C17. Slate and granite rubble stone with red brick coping to parapet. Five rounded arches with side embankments. Pointed cut waters rise to form niches in parapet. Scheduled ancient monument.

Anstey School and No. 1, Park Road - Grade II
School and school house of 1873. Granite and slate rubble stone with stone dressings, stone and blue brick plinth, stone and red brick bands, and elaborate brick eaves with stone kneelers. Slate roof, red ridge tiles and wooden ridge bell turret with slate and lead pinnacle roof. In Gothic style with stone plate tracery windows with hoodmoulds and label stops. Fine gabled composition progressively projecting forward to left. Here school house of two storeys, school of one. Front of three large gables with recessed entrances between and range behind. Left house gable with rectangular 3 light bay window and 2 light window over. House door to right with stone surround and carved tablet dated 1873 over. Two 1 lights follow. Centre school gable contains large 4 light window with small bulls eye window over. Gabled porch in recess with 1 light either side and truncated. Stone stacks in angles. Right gable has 2 light window with bulls eye window over and two 1 lights on right end facing Bradgate Road. 3 light window in gable end of range behind. On rear a row of five 3 light lancet type windows with brick surrounds and 4 brick and stone buttresses between. On left end of house a stone and brick projecting stack and 2 light with top lights. Group value with church diagonally opposite.

King Williams Bridge, Sheepwash Lane - Grade II Scheduled Ancient Monument
Pack horse bridge probably of C17. Small granite and slate rubble stone bridge with two round arches and pointed cutwater rising into parapet on upstream side. Parapet approaches splayed out. Arches repaired with brick, as bridge widened on downstream side, supposedly for William III’s visit to Bradgate in 1696. Scheduled ancient monument.

War Memorial, Stadon Road - Grade II
War memorial of c1920. White granite and metal plaque with names, Polygonal base with plinth c2½m high surmounted by cross.

No. 2, The Green - Grade II
House of mid C18. Red brick on slate and granite rubble stone plinth with brick bands, moulded brick cornice and Swithland slate roof with end and central ridge stacks. Gable facing. 2½ storeys of 4 sash windows, 8/8 with 6/6 over door centre right. Hipped ½ dormers above with 3 light casements and 2 light casement over 6/6, 8/8 sash to left, otherwise 12/12 sashes on ground floor. Renewed doorcase and door with overlight. One storey C20 extension to left. On right end facing Green two ground floor C20 round arched fixed lights with similar upper right. Basement 2 light and small frame with door in plinth. Similar fixed light to rear with other casements. Group value with Nos. 4 and 20 The Green.

Stable and Cottage at No. 2, The Green - Grade II
Stable and cottage, formerly stable of early C19. Stable of red brick and slate and granite rubble stone with brick dentilled eaves, Swithland slate roof and stack on rear roof. Three stable doors, cambered lintels, with 2 light casement above. Similar 1 light in right end stone walling. Cottage of similar materials. C20 door and doorcase in rubble stone wall faces Green with 2 brick ventilation diamonds to right. Included for group value with Nos. 2, 4 and 20 The Green.

No. 4, The Green - Grade II
House of C16,C17 and 1715. Red brick with brick band and small part of slate and granite rubble stone walling and plinth. Swithland slate roof with left side, rear wing end, and central ridge stacks. Two storeys. Left gable wing dated 1715 in brickwork on rear. Lower main range built on crucks partly visible. Here two further gables, that to right projecting. Left gable a 2 light casement with top lights on both floors and attic. A 2 light mullion and transom window on gables right wall. In central gable porch with door and 2 light casement with top lights in gable above and to right. 3 light casement in right gable with 2 light casement with top lights above. 2 light casement in continuation of main range to right. Further right, and projecting forwards, a stable of slate and granite rubble stone with corrugated roof. Truss in cross wall. Rear of house has 2 light casement in projecting wing with 2 light casement with top lights over, similar in attic and 1715 in bricks between. Otherwise door, C20 and other casements and small dormer to left of ridge stack. Beams and inglenook inside. Group value with barn and Nos. 2 and 20 The Green.

Barn at No. 4, The Green - Grade II
Long barn at C17 and C19. Part slate and granite rubble stone, part timber framed with brick, some herringbone pattern, nogging. Corrugated roof, gable facing, covers 3 bay queen post truss roof. Gable facing road of stone with blocked opening. 4x3 square panels, 1½ bays of timber framing (some renewed) on stone plinth adjoin front and rear. Further left facing yard large doors and stable door and window. This part C19 renewal. C19 walling supports trusses in part. Group value with Nos. 4, 2 and 20 The Green.

No. 20 and 20A (Manor Farmhouse), The Green - Grade II
House of earlier C18. Painted brick with brick band, moulded brick eaves cornice and stone plinth. Swithland slate roof with right end and two ridge stacks. Two storeys of six tall casements with top lights, alternating 1 light, 2 light from left. Ground floor from left similar 1 light, 3 light, square porch (probably later, with flat roof, moulded brick cornice and low wide door), C19 canted bay, 1 light and 2/2 sash. Larger windows have cambered lintels. On left end a C20 3 light window with C20 attic window and C20 windows on rear extension. On right end 1 light and attic 2 light window. On rear three gabled extension to right with long one storey outshut, doors, and 2 and 3 light casements mostly with cambered lintels. Two C20 dormers. Ceiling beams inside. Group value with Nos. 2 and 4 The Green.

The Well (south side), The Green - Grade II
Wall protecting well of c1800. Granite and slate rubble stone, part brick coped. Horseshoe shape of walling c2m high with jambs of former gate at ends. Concreted floor inside. Group value with Nos. 2, 4 and 20 The Green and of local significance.

Gynsill Court, Gynsill Lane – Locally Listed
Apartments. Late C19 with C20 interventions. Eccentric Freestyle, embracing Domestic and Tudor Revival elements. Red brick with blue brick string courses. Rendered gables above 1st floor. Multi-gabled pitched slate roof surmounted by terra cotta ridge. 3 storeys including top floor within roof space. 4 bold brick stacks with vertical indents and corbelled heads. Stacked bay windows with vertical sliding sashes to principal elevations. Two modest Victorian cottages attached. Also a free standing terrace of cottages with rendered walls, slate roof and flat topped dormers appear to be of recent construction or much altered from the original.

Anstey Mill Gynsill Lane – Locally Listed
Water Mill. Probably C18. Vernacular styling. Mellow red brick with segmental brick arched heads to window and door openings. Swithland slate to all roofs. Main building 3 storeys (including attic), ventilation holes to apex of east gable.with 2 storey wing (including roof space). By-pass sluice and footbridge still intact. Attractive composition deserving informed restoration.
