Free Ride for Children and Young People

Date of Release: Thu 2nd November, 2006

HUNDREDS of children and young people are going to be offered free ride tickets to enjoy all the fun of the County’s biggest traditional Street Fair.

The Fair, now is its 785th year, will run for an extra day this year, from Wednesday 8, November until Saturday, 11 November*. To celebrate the extension, 350 free ride tickets have been donated by the Showmen’s Guild who run the attractions each year. The free ride tickets will allow children and young people have a free ride on an attraction of their choice.

Cllr. Sandie Gough, Cabinet Member for Leisure, commented: “The Street Fair totally transforms Loughborough Town centre each year and this year to mark the extra day we have 350 free ride tickets to give away to children and young people. We want to give priority to parents or guardians of children who are normally eligible for concessions, who may not be able to afford to enjoy all the fun of the Fair.”

Local charities are now being approached by Charnwood Borough Council to distribute the tickets. Charities, youth and children’s groups are also being asked to contact the Council if they feel they would be able to get them into the hands of those who would benefit most from them.
