Allotments
Allotments are an important part of the culture within Charnwood, and provide a wide range of benefits to communities and the environment. They provide an important recreation facility, especially for people with small gardens. Allotments don’t have to be hard work and can have many advantages providing fresh vegetables, fruit and flowers free from pollutants at a fraction of cost paid in supermarkets.
Apart from providing low cost food, they also provide valuable recreational opportunities involving healthy activity and social contacts. Allotments are significant to our green spaces and provide habitats for many forms of wildlife.
Today, the Council has a statutory requirement to provide allotments for the public. Allotments can also offer a the social side, where you can meet new friends, enjoy a healthy outdoor life and a place to relax and unwind.
