Charnwood Borough Council - Leading in Leicestershire

AN independent inspection has ranked Charnwood Borough Council’s Leisure Centres as ‘highly commended’ and amongst the best in the UK.

Both Loughborough and Soar Valley Leisure Centres have been awarded the Quest quality kite mark, operated by PMP leisure consultants. Quest is an independent assessment of standards, cleanliness and customer services across the centres.

The Centres have been awarded the ‘highly commended’ status, scoring over 75%. Soar Valley Leisure Centre had the most recent assessment this month and scored 80% in their first assessment, an unprecedented achievement and the highest ranking score amongst Serco Leisure's entire portfolio.

To achieve the kite mark the inspectors pay mystery visits, scrutinize service standards, cleanliness and maintenance, customer reaction and the centres processes for ensuring continuous improvement.

Cllr Peter Lewis, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “What a great achievement! The Leisure Centres are the real jewels in Charnwood and great assets for the whole community to use – this accolade proves that.”

The Contract Manager, Paul Street and Operations Manager, Mark Welch are delighted with the results: “We are really pleased for the teams at both sites who always go the extra mile. We would also like to thank our customers for their constructive comments which help us greatly in our quest for continuous improvement.

“We hope that anyone interested in taking up exercise will be given the confidence that the Council's leisure centres are first class facilities available for the whole community to enjoy.
