FLOWERS weren’t the only things blossoming in the Outwoods this weekend. Romance was in the air as green-fingered singletons met for Charnwood Borough Council’s ‘Love In The Woods’.

‘Love In The Woods’ was like speed dating with an environmentally friendly twist.

Candles flickered and the strains of violin music floated out over the Outwoods as single people mixed putting up fences to protect badgers with waltzing through the trees.

At least a dozen people arrived at the Outwoods on the outskirts of Loughborough for the day where single people came to share an interest in conservation and meet new people for friendship and possibly more! Mark Graham, the event’s organiser and Wildlife Development Officer at the Council said:”There was definitely romance in the air! I could see the chemistry in at least one of the couples.

“The event was great fun and it benefited the Outwoods. Plans are already afoot to do it again.”

Cllr Sandie Gough, Lead Member for Leisure and the Environment said: “What a fascinating event! I’ve never heard of anything like this before and I think it’s a great idea. Bars and clubs are not always the best place to meet people and this way people can meet knowing that they have a common interest whilst contributing to a cleaner, greener Charnwood, everyone’s a winner! I’m really not surprised it was such a success.”

It has not been decided when a repeat event will happen nature lovers looking for love can rest assured that it won’t be too far off.
