Planning Officers from Charnwood Borough Council have clocked up nearly 200 hours on the road since consultation began on the Local Development Framework: Charnwood 2021 in February, and have heard the views of nearly 1,000 people already.
Charnwood 2021 sets out the Borough Council’s thoughts and proposals for development in the next 15-years. Consultation on the proposals in vitally important and more than 20 roadshows are being held across the Borough to listen to the views of residents before a final strategy is written.
Councillor Cameron Macleod, Lead Member for Planning, said: “The Consultation has been a real success so far and is set to continue, until the closing date of March 31. We’ve had great numbers of people visiting the roadshows to express their views and more than 400 people have logged online to view the proposals, available from www.charnwood.gov.uk
“We need this success to continue and I’d urge anybody who hasn’t come forward to air their point of view to do so. We’ve had extra copies printed of the summary leaflet to ensure that everybody who wants a copy gets one and further information is available through the website. The 80-page supporting document is also available for those who want further information.”
The last consultation roadshow was held at yesterday (Monday, 06 March 2006) at Barrow on Soar and there are five more events planned, including an additional roadshow which will visit Hathern Village Hall on Tuesday, March 21 from 7pm.
Dave Hankin, Director of Development at Charnwood Borough Council, said: “We want to ensure that everybody has access to a copy of the proposals, so if anybody hasn’t received one and they would like to see a copy, they can pick one up from their local Library or call 01509 53 4517 or visit our website on: www.charnwood.gov.uk/charnwood2021”
Leader of the Council, Cllr. Max Hunt: "We are anxious that everyone responds, whether or not they agree with everything. Today’s preferred options can change in a consultation, so it’s important people say what they do want as well as what they don't."
