Countdown to end of Consultation on 2021
Date of Release: Tue 21st March, 2006
Charnwood Borough Council is calling all interested residents to put forward their views on plans for new homes and jobs for the next generation.
Launched on Monday, 20 February, Charnwood 2021 outlines the proposed Local Development Framework for the Borough for the next 15-years, putting forward a number of options for growth to meet demand.
The public and other interested parties have one final week to respond after this Friday (24th March).
Council Leader, Cllr. Max Hunt, said: "It's really important that everyone who has a view engages in this last week. We are presented with some difficult choices and, whilst we are resolved to protect the unique character of our small towns and villages, it is by no means a done deal.
“There is a lot of talking to do yet and a huge weight on councillors' shoulders. So whether the proposals suit you or not, it’s important we have your views in now. One thing is certain we have to find homes for the next generation."
The six week consultation process has included a touring roadshow around the Borough, leaflet distribution, media and website coverage (via www.charnwood.gov.uk) and has lead to more than 1000 people voicing their interest on the proposals.
The final roadshow will be held at Hathern Village Hall on Tuesday (March 21) but planners will still be open to discussion and submission of views up to Friday, March 31.
Following the conclusion of this stage of consultation, the comments received will be used to help form the final proposals which will be submitted to the Secretary of State. A summary of the consultation will be available.
