Countdown to Consultation Closure or Charnwood 2021
Date of Release: Wed 29th March, 2006
Charnwood Borough Council will be closing the consultation on the Local Development Framework, Charnwood 2021 at 5pm on Friday (March 31) and communities are being urged to get their written responses in.
The huge consultation exercise on ‘Charnwood 2021: Planning for our next generation’, which outlines the proposals for development in Charnwood for the next 15-years, has aimed to highlight to residents and interested parties the need and demand for development and consult on the proposed direction of this growth.
A series of roadshows and exhibition events have been touring the Borough for the six week consultation period: More than 800 residents attended the exhibition events, over 500 went to the evening roadshow presentations and so far some 345 written responses have been received.
Charnwood 2021 has welcomed excellent coverage across all local media and through the Council’s website, with more than 1590 hits to the pages on www.charnwood.gov.uk.
Council Leader, Cllr. Max Hunt, said: “I'd like to thank all involved, and particularly the public who've attended meetings, considered the proposals and submitted responses.
“We know we can't please everyone because homes and workplaces for future generation need to be found, but we will look seriously at all options in the light of responses. We will also try our very best to offer a solution that maximises opportunity and quality of life, whilst minimising the danger to wildlife and wild places."
Following the conclusion of this stage of consultation, the comments received will be used to help form the final proposals which will be submitted to the Secretary of State. A summary of the consultation will be available.
