2009 Charnwood Sports Awards

2009 Sports AwardsSports Awards

Over 100 nominations were received for the first Charnwood Sports Awards after the nomination process was launched by Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, who rewrote history by becoming Britain’s first ever athlete to win gold at major youth, junior and U23 championships with 100m victory at the European U23s in Lithuania this year.

On Monday, November 2 2009 the Borough’s brightest sporting stars, coaches and volunteers gathered at Loughborough Town Hall to find out who had won each of the 13 awards up for grabs. The inaugural event was hosted by the Sports Organiser at BBC East Midlands Today, Mark Shardlow.
