Leicestershire Choice Based Lettings (CBL)
Leicestershire CBL includes the seven district councils in Leicestershire (excluding Leicester City Council which operates its own CBL scheme) and the Housing Associations operating in the area to offer homeseekers the widest choice of social housing in the area.
By advertising all the council and Housing Association properties that become available, . Homeseekers can see the available properties and have more choice by ‘bidding’ for - or expressing an interest in - suitable properties.
Registered homeseekers can see all available properties and 'bid' to express an interest in suitable properties. CBL does not increase the amount of social housing but it provides homeseekers with accurate information about how many homes are actually available, where these homes are located, and their chances of being housed.
Charnwood HomeSearch is the CBL scheme operated by the council that registered homeseekers use to look for social housing in the borough. More information about Charnwood HomeSearch can be found by clicking the links below:
Apply for Housing
Anyone aged over 16 years can apply to join the council's Housing Register and use Charnwood HomeSearch to rent a council or Housing Association home in Charnwood. To apply for housing, complete and return:
- A CBL Housing Application Form (Jan 14) (PDF Document, 0.39 Mb) with supporting documents
- If appropriate, a CBL Medical and Mobility Form (PDF Document, 0.13 Mb)
We will assess your housing circumstances and place your application into one of four bands (priority, high, medium or low). More information about the bands can be found in the Homeseekers Guide and in the CBL Allocations Policy.
When you are accepted onto the Housing Register we will write and tell you:
- Your housing application number
- The band that your housing application has been placed in
- Your "logon" reference number
As the number and type of council property varies from town to town, waiting times will differ. If you have any queries about your areas of choice or the type of property you would like to be offered, contact the Housing Needs Team on 01509 63 4567 for further assistance.
The new weekly bidding cycle will start on Thursday 3 April 2014 and homeseekers will be able to place bids from midnight on Thursday to midnight on Tuesday.
Please keep us informed of any changes in your circumstances, for example a change of address, as this may effect your application. Forms for this purpose and other documents related to housing applications are available to download and complete below.
