Organised by Charnwood Borough Council and supported by Loughborough BID, Armed Forces Day day will see a host of events in the town centre and Queen’s Park in Loughborough, as we honour the dedication of serving and former Armed Forces personnel.
The event will take place on Saturday June 24. Below is a timetable of events for the day.
10am: Compere Dave Shepherd to introduce and get Armed Forces Day underway
10am to 12.30pm: Face-painting fun
10am onwards: 158 Squadron will be in the Market Place
10am onwards: Stalls with information and advice for forces personnel. Organisations involved include armed forces charity SSAFA, the Royal British Legion, the Defence Discount Scheme and the Defence National Rehabilitation Centre. There will also be tea and cake available from the Armed Forces Breakfast Club. Stalls will be there until 3.30pm
Midday: Compere Dave Shepherd welcomes Armed Forces Day to the park. He’ll be there until 3.15pm
1pm to 2.45pm: Sports in the park
1pm to 3pm: Face-painting fun
3pm: Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Pauline Ranson will say a few words and the Loughborough Endowed Schools will play a fanfare
3.10pm: Loughborough BID to sign the Armed Forces Covenant in front of Charnwood Museum
3.15pm: The Borough Carillonneur, Caroline Sharpe, will give a recital at the Carillon
3.30pm: Event closes
10am to 4pm: The museum is open and there will be activities during the day
