Charnwood 2026 - Local Development Framework
Charnwood 2026 is Charnwood’s Local Development Framework (LDF). It will set out our planning policies and proposals to guide future development in the Borough. It will be made up of a number of documents that will outline our policies for meeting the community's economic, environmental and social needs over the next 15 years or so.

Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA): A review of the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment for Charnwood is now underway. Read more about the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment here.
Core Strategy Update: The Council has published a revised Local Development Scheme setting out a timetable for the progression of the Core Strategy and policy documents. Read more about the Local Development Scheme here.
The Local Development Scheme states that the Core Strategy would have seen us go out for consultation in February 2012. Unfortunately we have experienced significant delays in some transport evidence we require and this has lead to at least a 3 month delay in the timetable. We have not yet agreed a new timetable for the Core Strategy.
Leicester and Leicestershire Housing Requirements Study: A joint Leicester and Leicestershire Housing Requirements Study has been published. Read more about the study here.
Stakeholder workshops: The Council has held a series of workshops with organisations, partners and other bodies since 2008. These workshops have developed consensus around a number of policy areas so that officers can develop robust policies for the Core Strategy. Read more about the workshops here.
Loughborough Transport Assessments:An assessment of the transport implications of the various options for sustainable urban extensions around Loughborough is now available to download. Read more about Transport Assessments here.
