Charnwood Borough Council

Core Strategy Update: Work to prepare the Charnwood Core Strategy has been ongoing during 2009 and 2010 and a submission draft of the plan was to be published for consultation in March. However, there are still questions around alternative directions for growth and further evidence is required before a decision can be taken on the final submission version of the plan. It is unlikely that this decision will be made until June 2010. This delay also affects the rest of the Local Development Framework programme since other planning documents such as the Site Allocations Development Plan Document and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document are not planned to start until the Core Strategy has been subject to an Examination in Public.

Core Strategy Further Consultation Report: A report of the consultation held in October 2008 is now available to view here. It sets out the consultation undertaken in 2008 and the results of the various events. The Council received over 1,000 responses to the Core Strategy Further Consultation, which included proposals for new homes and jobs in the Borough. Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA):A Strategic Housing Land Availability Asssessment for Charnwood has been published and is available to download, just click here. This assessment identifies future sources of land for housing.
