Climate Change Strategy

In 2005, the Council developed a Climate Change Strategy in response to increased concerns over the effects of climate change both locally and globally. This was done alongside signing up to the Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change on the 2nd March 2005 as a sign of its commitment to reduce its impact on climate change and to help raise awareness of the issues locally.

The Strategy was developed with the help of the Councils wider environmental partners and Local Strategic Partnership members including; Action for a Better Charnwood, Friends of the Earth, the Council for the Protection of Rural England and Loughborough University. It has also had significant input from across the political parties and officers from all of the Councils services.

The draft strategy was then made available for comment to these groups, along with other partners, interested parties and the public (via the Council's website). This consultation process including using paper and electronic online questionnaires.

A copy of the final Climate Change Strategy document is now available on the website. If you require any further details please contact Karl Letten on 634505 or email sustainability@charnwood.gov.uk
