Concessionary Bus Travel Survey 2006

In October 2006 we carried out a survey with all of the Borough's Concessionary Travel Pass Holders. We wanted to give them the chance to have their say on the scheme as part of the Council's ongoing commitment to consult customers on services.

Pass holders were asked for their feedback on what the service should provide and the level of priority to be given to different levels of service.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Max Hunt, said: “We are going directly to the people that use the Concessionary Travel Pass to find out what are the priorities for them. We need to ensure that we’re offering the highest quality service we can to the pass holders at the right cost and to do that we need to assess opinion and also get the facts direct from the people and not through a political or media driven agenda.”

Customers’ views and preferences will be used to inform ongoing talks between Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council leading to a final decision in November.

According to County Council and the existing scheme, Charnwood pays the most amount of funding upwards of £750,000. Cllr Hunt, added: “We invested all the funding from national government, plus additional resources into the scheme.

“If we were to follow County Council’s proposal it would cost a further £250,000 to tax payers and we need to work out if this is acceptable and affordable or whether it would be more effective and efficient for Charnwood to offer its own scheme with perhaps some additional benefits included.”

The closing date for returning questionnaire was Tuesday, 31 October. The results of the survey can be viewed below.
