CHARNWOOD BOROUGH COUNCIL’S ALMO

Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing is an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) which has been formed to manage Charnwood Borough Council's housing stock - this will allow the council to focus on the housing needs of the borough as a whole.

All councils in England have to bring their homes up to the government’s Decent Homes Standard. Charnwood Borough Council needs around £53million to bring our homes up to this standard.

Unfortunately, the council does not have this money. Councils are governed by strict rules on borrowing while ALMOs like Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing would be able to get extra funding from the Government.
