CHARNWOOD’S ALMO

The management of Charnwood Borough Council’s 6,000 homes has now changed hands. Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing (CNH) has taken control of all the tenanted and leasehold homes in the Borough.

Below you will find information about the setting up of the Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) orvisit the CNH website.

CHARNWOOD NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSING

Charnwood Neighbourhood HousingLike all the councils in England, Charnwood Borough Council has to bring its homes up to the government’s Decent Homes Standard. The council’s homes need around £53million spending on them to bring them up to this standard. Unfortunately, the council does not have this money.

Having worked with tenants to look at the options available to raise the money needed for improving the homes, it was decided to set up Charnwood Neighbourhood Housing (CNH), an Arm’s Length Management Organisation (ALMO) to manage the council’s homes.

The council is governed by strict rules on borrowing while CNH would be able to get extra funding from the Government.
