The Charnwood Sport and Active Recreation Alliance

 The  Charnwood Sport & Active Recreation Alliance (CSARA) is a partnership formed to create a voice for sport and active recreation in the Borough of Charnwood.

The Charnwood Sport & Active Recreation Alliance (CSARA) has been designed to initiate partnership working between organisations and the community involved in sport and recreation. It is the task of the Charnwood Sport & Active Recreation Alliance (CSARA) to ensure that we can make this possible on a more local level.

The Charnwood Sport & Active Recreation Alliance (CSARA) is made up of sport and physical activity professionals across many delivery agencies including, Charnwood Borough Council, Loughborough University, Loughborough College, Leicestershire County and Rutland Primary Care Trust, Charnwood Arts, Leicestershire County Council Youth Services, School Sport Partnerships, Leicestershire and Rutland Sport (LRS) and Fusion Lifestyle (Leisure Centre providers).

The Charnwood Sport & Active Recreation Alliance (CSARA) has a main strategic board and three sub groups. These sub groups report into the main board, and can be described as the delivery arm of the CSARA. The three sub groups are:-

• Children and Young People
• Club, Coach and Volunteers
• Active Recreation

Children and Young People Sub Group

This group meets to discuss topics relating to children and young people, topics covered by this group but not limited to include:-

• Olympics - Inspiring the young people
• Sportivate funding - Meeting the needs of our young people
• Needs of local young people in sport

Club, Coach and Volunteers Sub Group

This group meets to discuss topics relating to our local clubs, coaches and volunteer workforce, topics covered by this group but not limite to include:-

• Coaching development
• Club development
• Charnwood Sports Grants
• Volunteering

Active Recreation Sub Group

This group meets to discuss topics relating to physical activity and health, topics covered by this group but not limited to include:-

• Physical activity in Charnwood
• Promoting physical activity
• Health and wellbeing

The main CSARA, will also discuss topics such as:-

• The Charnwood Sports Awards
• Sharing best practice
• The Olympics
• Opportunities for the local area
