Food Safety Award Conditions

- The Award is open to food businesses operating within the boundaries of Charnwood Borough Council
- Businesses will receive an Award if they comply with either the Gold or Silver award standards, award conditions, Current food safety legislation
- The applicant shall ensure access is given to all parts of the premises by authorised officers of the Council at all reasonable hours for purposes relating to the Award
- The certificate and window badge remains the property of Charnwood Borough Council. The granting of an Award is based on an assessment on a particular date. It is not a guarantee that the Award standards will be maintained during the life of the Award. If at any time a decline in standards below those set by the Award is found, this will result in the withdrawal of the Award. No further application will be considered for a period of twelve months from the date of revocation
- The Award is not transferable and is valid for one year
- A new application must be made for upgrading from the silver to the gold standard upon expiry of the silver standard award
- If the proprietor of the food business changes the Award becomes invalid and you will be required to return the Award and window badge to Charnwood Borough Council
- Recognised qualifications in food hygiene training include those offered by Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Royal Society of Health, Society of Food Hygiene and Technology, Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene
- In-house training may fulfil this requirement - please contact the Award Co-ordinator
- A non refundable application fee of £29.36 must be paid to Charnwood Borough Council to cover administration costs
- The Council reserves the right to alter the conditions and the Award standards from time to time without prior notice
- A decision made by Charnwood Borough Council not to grant an award to a food business is final. The reason for the refusal will be fully explained to the applicant
