Green Infrastructure Workshop
Examples of green infrastructure include river corridors, sports pitches, waterways, woodlands, nature reserves, urban parks, gardens, areas for flood alleviation, green corridors, footpaths, allotments, regional parks, green wedges, play spaces and landscaped areas. Green Infrastructure (or GI) is a relatively new term used in planning, and deals with issues such as biodiversity, recreation, access, and climate change.
A paper has been prepared on the subject of Green Infrastructure which sets emerging policy approach for our Core Strategy document. An event was held on 28th January 2011 to discuss emerging policy approaches with a series of people with particular experience in dealing with green infrastructure issues, and a summary of this event is available below. Work continues on developing the policy approach using the contributions at the workshop.
