Joint Budget Consultation Evenings
THE PROVIDERS of public services in Charnwood joined together to hold two events to communicate our plans for the future and review the past year to local people. The meetings were designed to provide information and allow residents direct insight into the challenges the four partner agencies face over the coming 12-months. They will also allow prime opportunity to shape priorities and help to bring issues to the forefront of key decision makers’ minds.
Two events were held on the Monday, 3 December at Syston Town Council and Tuesday, 4 December at Loughborough Town Hall.
Present were Charnwood Borough Council, Leicestershire County Council, Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire and Rutland Primary Care Trust. This is the first time that these organisations have come together for the first time to speak directly with residents.
Cllr Richard Shepherd, Leader of Charnwood Borough Council, said: “This is the first time we have all agreed to work together in this way and I think it’s going to be extremely beneficial to all concerned.
Cllr David Parsons, Leader of Leicestershire County Council said “It is essential that all public sector organisations in Leicestershire listen to residents views. By doing this together we will be able to co-ordinate our response and in the process improve services and value for money.”
Chief Superintendent Daimon Tilley, added: “We really welcome this kind of joint working as it means we can share resources, develop a better understanding and show residents that we work best, when we work together.”
The meetings were well attended and a variety of issues were discussed. To view the issues discussed and the answers provided at the meeting please see the summaries below.
