Games Time

Games Time is a community celebration that brings the spirit of the Olympic Games to your home town – an exciting geographical game with the East Midlands as the board!

In a “games frenzy”, board games will invade streets and parks, culminating in a giant performance starring 200 local people with dancers, breath-taking costumes, music and pyrotechnics.

Join a team and play against friends and family in the lead up to this amazing show.

You can join in many ways… be a dancer, help make the costumes, play games for fun, or just watch it all unfold. But whatever you do, make sure you see the spectacular “play-off” performance involving kings, queens, executioners and mythical creatures, such as dragons and minotaurs....

Games Time is coming to Loughborough on 9th June 2012 – and Games Time NEEDS YOU!  Find out how you can get involved in our section on volunteering in Charnwood below.

Charnwood Borough Council is proud to be a partner in Games Time, alongside the Spark Children's Festival, Loughborough University, Charnwood Arts UK2K12 , Loughborough Town Centre Partnership and Leicestershire County Council

Patchwork PledgePatchwork Pledge

Calling all crocheters and knitters!

Grab your hooks and needles and help Inspire LeicesterShire & Lionheart Project create a ‘London 2012 inspired’ pledge blanket in aid of Age Concern, Leicester Shire & Rutland.

We need your help to crochet or knit 6" squares to your own design, which we can join together to create the largest blanket Leicestershire has ever seen. A blanket so big, we will cover a building with it to celebrate the Games in 2012 and inspire all ages to learn new skills.

It is entirely up to you what you ‘pledge’. Think about the Olympic & Paralympic values of Respect, Excellence, Friendship, Determination, Courage, Inspiration and Equality.

This could form part of your design. Why not get together with family, friends or your local community group to create your own ‘mini’ blanket, an ideal size would be 6ft x 4ft, that’s 96 squares! Each square counts as one pledge, so the more you pledge the bigger the blanket gets.

Simply drop your completed square or squares into any Age Concern charity shop in Leicestershire & Rutland.

Join in and be a part of the 2012 Games.

My Games My Legacy has been granted the prestigious London 2012 Inspire ark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.
