Place Survey Pilot

What matters in your Neighbourhood?

In April 2008 we carried out a survey with a random selection of residents from within our Priority Neighbourhoods (and monitoring areas) within Loughborough, Syston, Thurmaston and Mountsorrel to find out how local people in these areas felt about their neighbourhoods and what their priorities were. The survey covered issues including healthy eating, access to services, community involvement and Anti-social behaviour.

This survey was a pre-cursor to the Place Survey in the Autumn 2008 which was carried out by every Council in England. We decided to do this extra survey to test the questionnaire in advance and also to collect valuable information about our priority neighbourhoods.

This survey was carried out by Charnwood Borough Council on behalf of Charnwood Together- a group of organisations from across the borough working together to make the Charnwood a great place to live and work.

The key priorities identified by local people included traffic congestion, Transport, Street Cleaning, Parking and Anti-Social Behaviour. The full results of the survey can be viewed below.
