The Private Housing Section forms part of the Housing & Health Directorate at Charnwood Borough Council and is responsible for the services listed below. We also work with the Environmental Health and Housing Services teams.

• Award Housing grant assistance to owner occupiers and private tenants.
• Details on the new Handyperson scheme available to the over 60's for repairs and maintenance
• Assistance for Landlords relating all HMO enquiries,licensing information ,details on the Tenant Finder and Fresh Start schemes and the Landlord eForum.
• Advice for Tenants on issues such as the conditions of the property and landlord responsibilities.
• Investigate Overcrowding issues
• Provide accommodation letters in relation to Immigration Applications.
• Monitor Empty Properties within the Borough.
• Enforce site licence conditions relating to Caravan Sites
• Advise on and investigate problems with private Drains and Sewers.
• Offer advice and guidance on domestic Energy Efficiency including home insulation, heating systems and alternative energy.
