Refuse Service Customer Satisfaction Survey 2005

In 2005 the Council carried out a survey about its refuse collection service. A questionnaire was sent by post to Citizen Panel members asking them to give us their views on matters such as recycling collections, recycling centres, household waste, wheelie bins and garden waste.

The Main findings of the survey were as follows:

592 members of the Citizens Panel (76%) responded to this survey.

88.7% of respondents were satisfied with the refuse service (recycling, household and garden waste collections) provided by the Council.

82.5% of respondents were satisfied with the recycling service provided by
the Council and 96% of respondents felt that it was to some extent important to recycle.

80% were satisfied with the household waste collection, with 81% of respondents saying that there was usually room left in their wheelie bin before up until the next collection.

A third of the respondents used the garden waste collection service. Of these, 94.9% were satisfied with the service provided.

The main issues concerning respondents to this survey were around litter being left behind or blown about by the wind and the bulk waste collection.
