House, C18, front rendered probably C19. Whitewashed rendered brick with granite rubble stone plinth and moulded and dentilled brick band on left end, and C20 corrugated tile roof with rendered right ridge and right end stacks. 2½ storeys of a 3 light horizontal sliding sash and two 8/8 sashes. Similar on ground floor with plank door centre left. Stuccoed surrounds representing stonework. On right end two C20 1 light first floor 2 light and attic 1 light. The first floor band curves upwards in centre over blocked former window. This end is now rendered but originally has patterned brickwork. The style of the band is very similar to that on NO. 42 Ratcliffe Road, Thrussington (q.v.).
Church of All Saints, Church Street (east side) - Grade II*
Church, C13-C15, restored and chancel rebuilt C19. Granite rubble stone with stone dressings and Swithland slate roof. Stone coped gables, some with cross finials. W tower, nave, aisles, chancel and N and S porches. Perp W tower of three stages with clasping buttresses, W window, loopholes in second stage, four 2 light bell openings, quatrefoiled lozenge frieze, remains of gargoyles and battlements. Inside, a double chamfered nave arch on semi circular responds. C13 bay N arcade with double chamfered arches on circular piers. Early C14 three bay S arcade with double chamfered arches on octagonal piers. Perp clerestory with four windows either side, two to W of 2 lights, two to E of 3 lights. C19 roof with curved braces to collars. In N aisle four windows with reticulated tracery, N door and porch. Piscina and aumbry. Double chamfered chancel arch on responds with fillets. N and E windows with stained glass of 1881, others with tinted glass. C19 boarded roof. Medieval altar stone remounted mid C20. In S aisle three windows with reticulated tracery and E window with plate tracery. Rood loft arch near. Piscina and square niches. Pieces of C18 panelling, probably from old box pews, against wall. S doorway with many moulded arch and S porch of 1889. Circular Norman font, blank arcading with colonettes carrying segmental arches. C19 base. Interior retains two old chests, Royal arms on panel over chancel arch, and two early C19 musical instruments, an ophicleide and a serpent. Pevsner.
8 (Park Farmhouse), Church Street (east side) - Grade II
House, late C17/C18. Red brick, part diapered, and Swithland slate roof with brick end stacks. Gable facing, front to right. 2½ storeys of three windows, a 3 light casement either side C20 window. Similar below but with central part glazed door. Cambered lintels except to C20 window. Brick eaves and diapered brickwork to ground floor. On left end gable a 2 light and further diapered brickwork. Below this projecting left to Church Street a 1½ storey extension with Swithland slate roof, brick mid roof stack and skylight. Roof continues down in front as catslide for outshut. On left end facing street are three C20 casements and a boarded window.
Barn and Outbuildings, Nos 12 & 14 Church Street (east side) - Grade II
Barn and outbuildings, c1800. Red brick, the barn with granite rubble stone plinth and outbuildings with brick dentilled eaves, and Welsh slate roof to barn and one outbuilding, Swithland slate to other two. Barn, facing Church Street, has large central doorway with pair of plank doors. To left are three ventilation diamonds with two 2 light horizontal sliding sash windows over, the sash to left missing. Two loopholes to right and four similar on right end, facing Butcher’s Lane. Extending down the land the three outbuildings, walls blank except for 3 light window in outbuilding to left, and 2 light in central outbuilding.
63 (Whitehouse Farmhouse), Green Lane (east side) - Grade II
House and outhouse, C18. Red brick with granite rubble stone plinth and Welsh slate and concrete tile roofs with two brick ridge stacks and a left end stack. Brick nogged eaves. Main facade faces rear. Two builds, brick band to left range, which is of two storeys of two 2 light casements over similar with top lights. Right range similarly of two storeys of two 3 lights, horizontal sliding sash and centre opening casements. On ground floor, from left, part glazed door, 3 light horizontal sliding sash, 1 light and stable door. To rear, facing lane, a lean-to with Swithland slate roof, a gabled openwork and glazed porch and a 2 light small paned horizontal sliding sash both floors.
58, Green Lane (west side) - Grade II
House, C18. Red brick with granite rubble stone plinth and Swithland slate roof with right ridge and left end stacks. Two storeys of three 3 light casements with top lights. Part glazed door centre left up flight of steps. Brick cambered lintels to ground floor, band and dentilled eaves. Barred basement opening to right. Outbuilding with pantile roof extends from right end.
60 (Hawley Fields Farmhouse), Green Lane (west side) - Grade II
House, C18. Red brick with granite rubble stone plinth and grey plain tile roof with two ridge stacks and a right end stack. Brick dentilled eaves. Gable facing front to left. Two storeys of three 2 light casements. Cambered lintels to ground floor. Doorcase centre left with small gabled hood. Door with three long panels. Ground floor 2 light on facing gable. Lean-to to rear.
62 (Home Farmhouse), Green Lane (north side) - Grade II
House, c1800. Red brick and concrete tile roof with brick truncated end stacks. Brick dentilled eaves. Two storeys of three top opening windows : 9 pane, 6 pane, 9 pane. On ground floor a similar 12 pane either side central doorcase with part glazed door and overlight. Cambered lintels except to doorcase. Included for group value.
Dovecote at 50 The Firs, King Street (north side) - Grade II
Dovecote, dated 1719. Red brick with granite rubble stone plinth and moulded brick eaves, and Swithland slate roof. Coped gables. Small dormer. Inside are nesting boxes and two bay tie beam truss roof.
5, King Street (south side) - Grade II
Cottage, C18. Whitewashed brick with granite rubble stone plinth and Swithland slate roof with brick end stacks. Two storeys of two 2 light horizontal sliding sashes, the ground floor left of 3 lights, right of 2 lights. Central 5 panelled door.
19 (Ivy House Farmhouse), King Street (south side) - Grade II
House, late C18 and early C19. Red brick with brick dentilled eaves and Swithland slate roof with brick central ridge and end stacks. Two sections, under one roof, that to left with band. Two storeys of three 3 light centre opening casements. Cambered lintels to ground floor. Door centre left. On right a projecting outshut with catslide roof. 3 light casement to front and part glazed entrance door on left end.
29, King Street (south side) - Grade II
Cottage, C18, raised a storey early C19. Red brick with granite rubble stone plinth and Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks. Two storeys of 2 windows, 2 light horizontal sliding sash with cambered lintel to left end 3 light casement to right. On ground floor, a 3 light casement with cambered lintel to left and projecting lean-to with Swithland slate roof to right. This has a horizontal sliding sash and, on left end plank entrance door. Beams inside.
45, King Street (south side) - Grade II
Cottage, C18, raised a storey early C19. Red brick ground floor with granite rubble stone plinth and unusual large size pale red brick to 1st floor. Welsh slate roof with rebuilt right end stack. Two storeys of two 3/3 sash windows. On ground floor a slightly projecting section to left with 3 light horizontal sliding sash, plank door, part glazed door, and 3 light casement with top lights. To right a 3 light horizontal sliding sash. Beams inside.
83 (Seagrave Hall), King Street (south side) - Grade II
House, C18, with large addition c1840. Red brick with stone quoins and dressings and Swithland slate roof with brick and stone end stacks. Stone coped gables. Range of c1840, to left, in Tudor style. Three storeys of 3 windows under 3 ornamental gables, the centre partly curved and with finial. Central projecting gabled porch with depressed open arch and hood mould up flight of steps. Part glazed door within. A pair of 1/1 sashes on each floor above. Hoodmoulds. To either side a two storey brick and stone canted bay with sashes. Over these on 2nd floor a triple 1/1 sash with hoodmould. On right end a two storey range of two 2 light mullion and transom windows over a tripartite 2/2:6/6:2/2 sash. Rear faces Churchyard of All Saints (q.v.) Formerly the Rectory.
Outbuildings at No. 83, King Street (south side) - Grade II
Range of outbuildings. Late C17/C18 and dated 1820. Red brick, colourwashed to front, with granite rubble stone plinth in part and Welsh slate, Roman tile, and Swithland slate roofs. One and 1½ storeys with garage doors, doors, loft door, 3 light casement and 3/3 sash window. Four builds, the section to right dated 1820. The central section of one high storey has three bay single purlin tie beam truss roof with clasped principal rafters. Included for group value.
Quorn Hunt Kennels, and Stabling, Paudy Lane (north side) - Grade II
Hunt kennels and stabling. Dated 1905. Red brick and Welsh slate roof with brick ridge and end stacks. In English vernacular style. Central entrance block of two storeys of five 3 light and 4 light casement windows. Central carriage entrance with rounded arch. A gable either side with ground floor canted bay. Gables and parapet over entrance are stone coped, the gables shouldered. Over entrance a stone tablet inscribed ‘Q.H. 1905’ On the roof ridge above this an elaborate wood and lead clock tower. The square first stage has a clock face with Roman numerals. Over this is a balustrade with turned balusters and an open octagonal lantern with leaded roof, finial and wrought iron weathervane. Extending to either side of central block then turning at right angles and extending to rear a range of one storey outbuildings. Between these and forming the fourth side of a quadrangle a 2 storey stable range with gable opposite the entrance arch. Here a canted bay with sash windows and 4 light casement over. To left of main quadrangle a series of 1 and 1½ storey kennel buildings, the exercise yards with iron railings. The whole, together with 3 cottages (q.v.) and house (q.v.), forms an impressive group.
3 Cottages at Quorn Hunt Kennels, Paudy Lane (north side) - Grade II
Range of 3 cottages, 1905. Red brick and Welsh slate hipped roof with two brick ridge stacks. In English vernacular style, with two gables and slightly recessed centre. Two storeys of three casement windows, 3 light, 4 light part dormer with rounded gablet in centre and 3 light. On ground floor, from left, part glazed door with canopy hung on stanchions, 6 light rectangular bay, similar door and canopy, 6 light bay the left end cut diagonally, 6 light rectangular bay and similar door and canopy. These cottages form an impressive group with the other buildings at Quorn Hunt Kennels.
House at Quorn Hunt Kennels, Paudy Lane (north side) - Grade II
House, 1905. Red brick and Welsh slate roof with brick side, right end and rear stacks. In English vernacular style with gable to left. Two storeys of 3 windows, from left, 3 light casement, 3 light mullion and double transom staircase window and low 4 light casement. On ground floor a 5 light canted bay, 1 light and 4 light casement. Door on left end with 6 light rectangular bay and further casements. This house forms an impressive group with the other buildings at Quorn Hunt Kennels.
26 (The Croft), Swan Street (north side) - Grade II
House, c1800. Red brick with brick dentilled eaves and Swithland slate roof with brick right ridge and left end stacks. Gable facing, front to left. Three storeys of three 3 light centre opening casements. Cambered lintels to first floor. Three 3 light horizontal sliding sashes on 2nd floor. On the ground floor are a 3 light horizontal sliding sash to left, doorcase with bracketted hood and 6 panelled door, and a 3 light centre opening casement. Blocked window to right. One storey extension on left end. A 3 light centre opening casement on right end.
Barn approx. 20m to West of and at 26 The Croft, Swan Street (north side) - Grade II
Barn, dated 1731? Red brick with granite rubble stone plinth and brick eaves and corrugated tile roof with brick crow stepped coped gables. Gable facing, front to right with various doors and double doorway. To rear are three small round arched windows. Facing gable has date 173? Pricked out in brick.
Abbotsbury Court, Swan Street (south side) - Grade II
House, C18, possibly with early C17 origins. Whitewashed brick with high granite rubble stone plinth, band in part, brick nogged eaves in part, and Swithland and Welsh slate roof with brick ridge and left end projecting stacks. Gable to right. 2½ storeys of two 3 light horizontal sliding sash windows with top lights. 2 light in gable attic. Two 3 light casements on ground floor. Entrance to rear in wing. Dated AD1607 in later figures on band. Chamfered beams, inglenook and tie beam truss are visible inside. Formerly the White Swan Inn.
45, Swan Street (south side) - Grade II
Cottage, early c19. Red brick and Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks. Gable facing, front to right. Two storeys of two 3 light horizontal sliding sash windows. Cambered lintels to ground floor. Central doorway with 4 panelled door. Small one light on gable facing street.
7, The Banks (east end) - Grade II
Cottage, C18. Red brick with granite rubble stone plinth and C20 pantile roof with two brick rear ridge stacks. 1½ storeys of two 12 pane top opening windows and, to right, door with small wooden porch. Above are two dormers each with similar windows 1/3 below eaves. C20 1½ storey extension on right end. Beams and inglenook inside.
