Council Priorities

Most of us are familiar with the concept of budgeting. Whether the budget is for household expenses like shopping, clothes for the kids, mortgage or car, the principle is the same... cutting your cloth according to your means is the key to a well-managed budget (and Council).

At Charnwood Borough Council the principle is also the same; we have an 'income' derived from things like council tax, rents and government grants and an expenditure on things like, refuse collection, leisure facilities, housing and benefits.

Every year the council constructs a budget which balances the needs of the borough with the money available to deliver your services... and this year as in other years we would like to know what you think are the priorities for the borough.

"Tell us what you think"

The first part of the consultation is to ask the residents (through Charnwood News and this site) to pick their top three priorities for the borough... for example is it most important that we keep the streets clean or protect our countryside?

"Tell us what we need to do better"

The second part is about improving the service we give people in the borough. From the speed that planning applications are turned round to the ease and friendliness of any enquiries that come in through switchboard, the post or by e-mail. We want residents to list their top three areas that need most improvement.

Please send general comments to consultation@charnwood.gov.uk.
