In May/June 2004 we published an 'Issues Paper' called Towards a Charnwood Local Development Framework,as the first stage in the production of revised planning policy for Charnwood.The Paper was circulated to local groups and organisations and a roadshow and exhibition toured the Borough. Response to Issues Paper

Some 500 comments have been received and these are summarised in the papers below which include an overview of comments received and summaries of individual comments by the 9 themes set out in the Issues Paper. In addition to the roadshow we also held a one day event where representatives from local groups and organisations were invited to talk around some of the key themes. A summary of the day is also included below. We also met with the Youth and Health Forums to explain the changes to the planning system and introduce the Issues Paper.

Some groups have expressed concern about the arrangements for publicising the Issues Paper. These comments have been noted and we will be talking with Town/ Parish Councils and other groups about how we can improve on our consultation arrangements. We are producing a Statement of Community Involvement setting out our proposals for future consultation on the Local Development Framework and planning applications.

A number of responses relate to specific sites and include suggestions for new housing and employment developments, revisions to Limits to Development and areas people feel should be protected.
