Transport Assessments
This page provides links to the transport evidence base that will be used to inform the Local Development Framework Core Strategy. In 2008 Charnwood Borough Council commissioned transport consultants MVA to prepare a transport assessment for Charnwood to build on and review the work undertaken by Leicestershire County Council for the East Midlands Regional Plan preparation in 2006 and 2007. More detailed reports were then commissioned in 2009 by Charnwood Borough Council for Loughborough and South Charnwood. This page provides links to both the Charnwood and County reports.
Further work is currently being prepared by MVA for Charnwood using the Leicester and Leicestershire Integrated Transport Model. This report will be published on this page when it is complete.
Charnwood Borough Council Transport Assessments
Charnwood Borough Council have commissioned transport consultants MVA to prepare a number of reports to inform the Charnwood Local Development Framework Core Strategy. Below are links to the three main reports prepared for Charnwood in 2008 and Loughborough and South Charnwood in 2009 with supporting technical reports.
- Charnwood Transport Assessment (Delivering Strategies, September 2008),
- Southern Charnwood Transport Assessment (Setting Strategic Direction, March 2009) and related Technical Reports and
- Loughborough Transport Assessment (Transport for Development, August 2009) and related Technical Reports.
Summaries of 2009 Transport Assessments
Below are a set of summary notes highlighting the key findings of MVA's transport assessments for all the potential locations for Sustainable Urban Extensions currently being considered. These are based on MVA's full reports for Loughborough (August 2009) and South Charnwood (March 2009).
These reports were commissioned by Charnwood Borough Council to provide more detailed Transport Assessments that provide a better understanding of the broad transport implications of the various options for Sustainable Urban Extensions north of Leicester and around Loughborough. The Assessments were prepared in partnership with the Highway Authorities, Highway Agency and key stakeholders and are based on the Central Leicestershire Transport Model and an upgraded Loughborough Traffic Model (creating a full multi-modal model for Loughborough).
