Exposure Category
The Government considers that current air quality objectives should apply in non-occupational near-ground level outdoor locations where a person might reasonably be expected to be exposed over the relevant averaging period, which dependant on the pollutant may be anything from 15 minutes up to 24 hours. The exposure category detailed in the list of site locations below is our assessment of whether residents in the vicinity of the tube sites are being exposed to typical pollutant levels for that type of area, or if there are additional factors present that are intensifying exposure, such as tall buildings creating a canyon effect. So for the purposes of the following list we have two categories:
Category A – Residents are being exposed to pollutant levels that are representative of the type of area that the diffusion tube is located in.
Category B - Residents are being exposed to pollutant levels that are unrepresentative of this type of area that the diffusion tube is located in, due to the influence of additional factors.
