Voluntary Action Charnwood ( VAC)

Voluntary Action Charnwood is based at John Storer House, Loughborough.

Voluntary Action Charnwood;

  • encourages, supports and develops individuals, groups and organisations involved in community action
  • promotes new initiatives
  • establishes partnerships between the public, private and voluntary sectors
  • and runs a community centre and voluntary action centre.

Voluntary Action Charnwood acts to develop a more just, inclusive and caring society in Charnwood.

Volunteering

Volunteering is about giving your time to do something useful, without getting paid (apart from expenses).

In return you get the satisfaction of time and effort well spent. In addition, volunteering can be a great way to: meet new people learn new skills gain useful experience. It should also be fun!

The range of opportunities is huge. Whatever skills and experience you have, there is something that you can do.

Voluntary Sector Compact

In 2004 the Borough Council adopted a Voluntary Sector Compact which set out an agreed approach to managing relations between the Statutory and Voluntary Sectors within Charnwood and North West Leicestershire ( see in Related Documents).

Voluntary Sector Compacts in Leicestershire are currently being reviewed and a revised Compact for Leicestershire is being consulted upon between 10th May and 30th July 2010.
