WHAT GOES IN THE GREEN RECYCLING BAGS?

YES PLEASE TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Plastic drink bottles,
  • Detergent bottles,
  • Shampoo and shower gel bottles.

Plus, you can now place the following plastics in your green bags:

  • Food trays, fruit punnets including the lids,
  • carrier bags, bin liners and packaging film,
  • Margarine & ice cream tubs, small plants pots and seed trays,
  • Yoghurt pots, foam fast food boxes & egg cartons, and plastic cutlery.

  • Drink cans,
  • Cooking oil drums,
  • Big cooking oil tins,
  • Food tins,
  • Metal biscuits or chocolate tins.

Aerosol Cans

Plus, you can now place the following metals in your green bag:

  • Aerosol cans,
  • Clean foil and foil trays.

NO THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING

  • Toys,
  • Plastic furniture,
  • Electrical appliances,
  • Crisp packets.
  • Sweet wrappers,
  • Polystyrene packaging
  • Low energy light bulbs - These should not be placed in the wheelie bin either but taken to a Household Recycling and Waste Site, which are located at Railway Terrace, Loughborough, Hathern Road, Shepshed or Cemetery Road, Sileby. Any questions about disposal at these sites should be directed to Leicestershire County Council, as they run the sites.
