What will the Benefits Service do for landlords?

  • Pay Housing Benefit, within 14 days of receiving all information needed
  • Make payments every 4 weeks, in arrears, as long as the tenant is entitled
  • Notify a landlord, promptly, if there has been an overpayment
  • Advise the landlord if the tenant has asked for direct payments to stop
  • Discuss the tenant's claim, if the tenant gives written permission for us to do so.

The benefit service will, where ever possible, work with landlords to ensure the correct amount of benefit is being paid regularly to reduce the risk of arrears.
