Children and Young People

Charnwood Youth CouncilThe Council is committed to promoting and supporting children and young people to reach their full potential.

We have thriving sports, recreation and arts programmes specifically tailored for children and young people. Check out our Leisure, Arts & Tourism pages for more information.

We are also committed to involving young people in our decision making processes. The main way we do this is through the Charnwood Youth Council. The Youth Council is a group of young people who campaign on issues that are important to them. They meet every week in venues around the Borough.

Each year the Youth Council host a Youth Conference where young people from across the Borough decide their priorities for development and change for the coming year. You can read about the highly successful 2012 Charnwood Youth Conference here.

The Charnwood Youth Council are also represented on the County Councils Youth Forum called CYCLE, which represents young people at a County level.

Charnwood Borough Council also administer Positive Activities for Young People funding. For details of what is currently available, and how to apply for funding click on the link above.

At Charnwood Borough Council we take our duty to safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults very seriously. You can see our safeguarding policy below. If you are a member of the public and you have concerns about a child or young person have a look at our Safeguarding Page for more information about what you can do.
