Young People

The Council is committed to promoting and supporting children and young people to reach their full potential.

We have thriving sports, recreation and arts programmes specifically tailored for children and young people. Check the following links for more information:

We are also committed to involving young people in our decision making processes. The main way we do this is through the Charnwood Youth Forum. The Forum is a group of young people who campaign on issues that are important to them. They meet every 2 months in venues around the Borough.

Each year the Forum host a Youth Conference where young people from across the Borough decide their priorities for development and change for the coming year. You can read about the highly successful 2009 Charnwood Youth Conference here.

The Charnwood Youth Forum are also represented on the County Councils Youth Forum called CYCLe, which represents young people at a County level.

Charnwood Borough Council also administer Positive Activities for Young People funding. For details of what is currently available, and how to apply for funding click on the link above.

For a website full of information for young people in Leicestershire check out The Jitty. It has loads of information on what is going on, film reviews, competitions, chat forum and much more.
