Charnwood Borough Council - Leading in Leicestershire

The Borough Council is an active partner in the preparation of Local Transport Plans (LTPs) by County and City Councils. The LTPs cover the period 2001 to 2006 and set out how local transport problems will be tackled through a costed programme of works with a range of targets to monitor progress.

The Borough falls within the areas covered by two LTPs.

The southern parishes of the Borough (Anstey, Cropston, Thurcaston, Birstall, Rothley, Wanlip, Thurmaston, Syston, Queniborough, East Goscote, Rearsby, Barkby, Barkby Thorpe, Beeby and South Croxton) are covered by the Central Leicestershire LTP (see link below) for the city's travel to work area. This LTP is prepared jointly by Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council.

The rest of the Borough (Mountsorrel, Sileby, Cossington, Ratcliffe on the Wreake, Newtown Linford, Woodhouse Eaves, Woodhouse, Swithland, Quorn, Barrow upon Soar, Seagrave, Shepshed, Hathern, Loughborough, Cotes, Prestwold, Hoton, Walton on the Wolds, Burton on the Wolds and Wymeswold) is covered by the Leicestershire LTP (see link below) for areas outside Central Leicestershire. This LTP is prepared by the County Council.
