Answer

Our Council tax records shows there are 1632 empty dwelling in Charnwood.  Our records do not record whether these are privately, council, housing association or public body owned.  Of those 1632 dwellings 776 are classed as long term empty.

Our council tax records show that the longest length of time that a dwelling has been empty is 19 years (since the start of council tax in 1993).  Our records do not record whether these are privately, council, housing association or public body owned.

There were 2626 households on the housing waiting list at 1 April 2012.
We do not hold a record of how many houses were demolished which were privately or housing association owned.  Our planning department has a separate section for applications to simply demolish buildings, however where the demolition of existing buildings is included in a planning application to erect a new building, these are not recorded as demolitions.  You can view a list of applications for demolitions on our Planning Explorer webpage: http://portal.charnwood.gov.uk/Northgate/PlanningExplorerAA/GeneralSearch.aspx

Simply choose Demolition Determination under Application type.

Council owned dwelling demolished:
Past 12 months: 0
Past 5 years:      1
Past 10 years:    9
Total                10

There are no Council owned dwellings scheduled for demolition within the next 3 years.
