I am writing to obtain information about publicity paid for by your organisation during the financial years 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 to date. By publicity spending I mean “any communication, in whatever form, addressed to the public at large or to a section of the public” as defined by the Local Government Act 1986
To outline my query as clearly as possible, I am requesting:
1. The total amount spent on:
a. All publicity, as defined above.
b. Staff advertising
2. A list of publicity your organisation has purchased, detailing in each instance:
a. The name of the publication (or website etc) if applicable
b. The amount spent in each instance
c. The length of time the publicity was in place, or the number of repeat insertions, if applicable
3. The total amount spent on council newspapers/magazines.
4. A copy of the council’s guidance on the use of paid publicity
Thank you for your recent information request regarding publicity which the Council has considered. While the information requested is held by the Council in the form of overall figures of publicity costs for different departments, it is not held in a manner which enables the detailed data you requested to be collated easily. The time required to locate and retrieve this information would exceed the appropriate limit for dealing with requests as set out in Section 12 of the Act and the Appropriate Limit and Fees Regulations.
I have attached a spreadsheet that shows the total publicity costs across each service in the last 3 years and the total amount spend on staff advertising is below:
2011/12 to date nil
