Question

I’d like to put in a freedom of information request with the following questions below:
1) What insurance contracts does the council have and what do they cover?
2) Which insurance company is each contract with?
3a) Which contracts are purchased through a broker?
b) If so how long has this been with them / times renewed
4a) Which contracts are purchased direct with the insurer?
b) If so how long has this been with them / times renewed
5) What is the cost of each contract?
6) Are contracts paid in full or are the paid over instalments?
7) Who is the decision maker for each contract?
8) When is the expiry date of each contract?
9) Which contracts will have to go to tender & where will these tenders be advertised?
10) How many employees does the council have?
11) Is the basis of selection based on level of cover, price or service, a combination of one or more of these reasons?
12) Are you able to receive quotes from other insurers/brokers whilst under contract with current insurer?

Answer

1) What insurance contracts does the council have and what do they cover? One insurance contract covering Property, Casualty, Motor, Engineering, Terrorism, Fidelity Guarantee, Land Charges, Public Health Act and Computer
2) Which insurance company is each contract with?  Zurich Municipal
3a) Which contracts are purchased through a broker? None
b) If so how long has this been with them / times renewed n/a
4a) Which contracts are purchased direct with the insurer? One, as above.
b) If so how long has this been with them / times renewed. Five year Long Term Agreement in place which commenced in 2012.
5) What is the cost of each contract? £428,000
6) Are contracts paid in full or are the paid over instalments? Paid in full
7) Who is the decision maker for each contract? Head of Strategic Support
8) When is the expiry date of each contract? 31.05.2017
9) Which contracts will have to go to tender & where will these tenders be advertised? One contract will be tendered by OJEU Open Tender.
10) How many employees does the council have? Approx. 500 staff
11) Is the basis of selection based on level of cover, price or service, a combination of one or more of these reasons? A combination.
12) Are you able to receive quotes from other insurers/brokers whilst under contract with current insurer?"  We are able to receive quotes but will not be tendering until January 2017.
