Question

Please can you let me know the date when the Council became aware that they were paying some of their staff incorrectly according to the single status agreement 1997 that was set up to ensure all staff receive equal pay for work of equal value. Can you also let me know how many people were paid incorrectly during this period and how many men and how many women. I have been informed that the Council are only paying full back pay to the staff still in employment at Charnwood Borough Council so I would also like to know how many men were paid full back pay and how many women were paid full back pay. The staff who have left the Council are only being paid back pay for 6 years going back from the date they put their claim in so I would also like to know how many men and women have been paid back pay for 6 years from the date they claimed.

Answer

Please can you let me know the date when the Council became aware that they were paying some of their staff incorrectly according to the single status agreement 1997 that was set up to ensure all staff receive equal pay for work of equal value.
The council does not hold any information regarding incorrect payments relating to the Single Status Agreement from 1997.

The Contract of Employment Project is not related to single status; it is the result of a claim in early 2011 for unfair deduction from pay from a group of workers at the Council.

Can you also let me know how many people were paid incorrectly during this period and how many men and how many women?
The project was established in order to identify staff who had potentially been underpaid for work in the evenings, weekend or bank holiday.  This project has been completed for all staff who have remained employees of Charnwood Borough Council.  However, a further project will start shortly, identifying any potential underpayments for staff who were transferred to another organisation and have since been transferred back to the Council.  The project is therefore incomplete.

The following numbers of men and women have received a payment to date 35 females and 32 males

I have been informed that the Council are only paying full back pay to the staff still in employment at Charnwood Borough Council so I would also like to know how many men were paid full back pay and how many women were paid full back pay.
The Council are paying current employees back to the start of their current Contract of Employment.  Of those that are still in employment 26 are men and 32 are female

The staff who have left the Council are only being paid back pay for 6 years going back from the date they put their claim in so I would also like to know how many men and women have been paid back pay for 6 years from the date they claimed.
Former employees will only be paid back to a maximum of 6 years but they may not have had this much service so won’t have been paid for 6 years. Of the leavers receiving back pay, 6 have been men and 5 have been women
