Question

1...Does the council hold documentation which examines the likely implications of the Government's new draft National Planning Policy Framework which has been devised by the Government and which is currently out to consultation.

2...Has the council calculated and or estimated how many extra residential properties will be built within its area as a result of the policy. Can you please provide these figures?

3...Has the council calculated and or estimated how much land which currently does not have build on it will be given over to new build as a result of this. Can you please provide these details?

4...Has the council calculated and or estimated how much green space in its area could be lost as a result of the policy. Can you please provide these details?

5...Has the council received any advice from the Department of Commuities and Local Government's on the implications of the Government's new draft National Planning Policy Framework on live and current applications within its area. Can you please provide copies of this guidance.

6...Has the council produced a report or study looking at the implications of the NPPF. If so can it please provide copies.

7...Has the council issued written advice to officers and or members about the implications of the NPPF for its area. If so could you please provide copies.

Answer

1.             Does the council hold documentation which examines the likely implications of the Government's new draft National Planning Policy Framework which has been devised by the Government and which is currently out to consultation.
 
The Council’s Cabinet considered a report on 29th September 2011 from the Head of Planning and Regeneration Services on the draft National Planning Policy Framework consultation which outlined the key implications for Charnwood.  This Cabinet Report, a report from the Overview Scrutiny Group, and the minutes of the Cabinet discussion are available to view here: http://www.charnwood.gov.uk/committees/cabinet

2.             Has the council calculated and or estimated how many extra residential properties will be built within its area as a result of the policy. Can you please provide these figures?

The Council has not calculated or estimated the number of extra residential properties that will be built as a result of the draft National Planning Policy Framework.

3.             Has the council calculated and or estimated how much land which currently does not have build on it will be given over to new build as a result of this. Can you please provide these details?

The Council has not calculated or estimated how much land will be given over to new build as a result of the draft National Planning Policy Framework.

The Council has not calculated or estimated how much green space in its area could be lost as a result of the draft National Planning Policy Framework. 

5.             Has the council received any advice from the Department of Communities and Local Government's on the implications of the Government's new draft National Planning Policy Framework on live and current applications within its area? Can you please provide copies of this guidance?

The Council has not received advice directly from the Department of Communities and Local Government on the implications of the draft National Planning Policy Framework in relation to live or current applications within the area.  Officers have used the Advice for Inspectors note produced by the Planning Inspectorate on the draft National Planning Policy Statement to inform planning policy comments on planning applications.  This advice note is available here on the planning portal website: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/planning/appeals/planninginspectorate/adviceinspectors/advice

The Council has not issued any written advice to officers or Members about the implications of the National Planning Policy Framework, however officers have provided Members on the Local Development Framework Member Reference Group with a presentation on the draft National Planning Policy Framework on 10th October 2011 and this presentation is attached.
