Question

am writing to request some information on how the Government's cuts are affecting local councils under the Freedom of Information Act.

I would prefer to receive the response by email.

Please could you provide me with the following information

1. How many staff have been made redundant or are projected to be made redundant by the Council in the following years: 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2014/15?

2. What is the council's total budget in the following years:
2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13 (projected), 2014/15 (projected)?

3. Is the Council closing any of the following services in the period 2010/11 - 2014/15? Please give details/the total number closed if possible
- swimming pools/leisure centres
- Sure Start centres
- libraries
- any other services you are able to provide details on

Answer

Following the above information request I am pleased to provide the following information:
1. How many staff have been made redundant or are projected to be made redundant by the Council in the following years: 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2014/15?
2010/11 – 5
2011/12 – 26
2012/13 & 2014/15 – not known.  This will depend on budget setting and individual service reviews.

2. What is the council's total budget in the following years:
2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13 (projected), 2014/15 (projected)?
The council’s budgets for 2010/11 and 2011/12 can be found in the budget book available on our website at: http://www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/council_budgets

3. Is the Council closing any of the following services in the period 2010/11 - 2014/15? Please give details/the total number closed if possible

- Sure Start centres – Run by Leicestershire County Council
- libraries - Run by Leicestershire County Council
- any other services you are able to provide details on - None
