1. How many community sports clubs does your authority currently grant discretionary rate relief to?

2. What is your authority’s current policy (2012/13) for granting discretionary rate relief to community sports clubs?

3. Is there a monetary or percentage limit on the amount of discretionary rate relief your authority will grant to a single community sports club? If yes, how much is this?

4. Does the authority intend to introduce a new policy next year? If so, what will be the new policy for 2013/14?

5. What is your authority’s total budget for granting discretionary rate relief in 2012/13 and 2013/14

* The term community sports club includes all organisations with a primary purpose to provide sport, recreation or physical activity opportunities that benefit the public. The term also includes clubs registered as community ammeter sports clubs that may apply for discretionary rate relief to top-up existing mandatory rate relief.

1. How many community sports clubs does your authority currently grant discretionary rate relief to?
We currently grant discretionary relief to 29 sports clubs
2. What is your authority’s current policy (2012/13) for granting discretionary rate relief to community sports clubs? Applications go to Head of Service for individual decision
3. Is there a monetary or percentage limit on the amount of discretionary rate relief your authority will grant to a single community sports club?  If yes, how much is this? Generally, grant 80% relief to sports clubs
4. Does the authority intend to introduce a new policy next year?  If so, what will be the new policy for 2013/14? No
5. What is your authority’s total budget for granting discretionary rate relief in 2012/13 and 2013/14 No budget has been fixed, For information, we have granted £156,670.38 so far in 2012/13 to sports clubs.
