Question

Please can you tell me the cost to the council for allowing the
Olympic Torch to pass through the area covered by the council?

Please could you provide a breakdown of the costs such as extra pay
for staff, extra cost of policing, road closures, branded bunting
and other associated costs.

In addition, could you tell me what income, if any, was earned from
the procession from parking, selling advertising space etc

And finally, if you did have any grant funding or sponsorship, can
you tell me how much was provided by LOCOG?

Answer

Following the above information request I am pleased to provide the following information:
Please can you tell me the cost to the council for allowing the Olympic Torch to pass through the area covered by the council?
£17846.09

Please could you provide a breakdown of the costs such as extra pay for staff, extra cost of policing, road closures, branded bunting and other associated costs.
Please see the attached spreadsheet for a breakdown of costs.
Costs for extra police are not held, the request would need to be directed to Police.  Road closures are the responsibility of Leicestershire County Council as the highways authority, cost associated with road closures would need to be directed to the County Council.
Other organisations also contributed to the street dressings, which were put up for the wider celebrations of the summer, not just for the Torch Relay.

In addition, could you tell me what income, if any, was earned from the procession from parking, selling advertising space etc
None.  People may have made use of the council car parks during the torch procession but it is not possible to delineate those who parked specifically for this purpose.

And finally, if you did have any grant funding or sponsorship, can you tell me how much was provided by LOCOG?
None
