Question

I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act for council budgeted spending on culture and leisure in 2012/2013 and 2013/14. I would also like specific information about what libraries and theatres have been closed.

Answer

The budget for Charnwood’s Leisure and Culture service can be found in the annual Budget Books which are published on our website:
http://www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/council_budgets

I have attached the budget book for 2012/13; under the heading Head of Leisure & Culture on page 11 is shown a budget breakdown of the elements that make up our Leisure and Culture service, however you may also want to include areas such as parks, green spaces and sports, and these can be found under Head of Cleansing & Open Spaces (page 11) and Head of Neighbourhood Services (page 12).

The Budget Book for 2013/14 is still being finalised, and it is aimed be published on our website (link as above) in early June.

The council operates one theatre – Loughborough Town hall and has not closed any.
Charnwood Borough Council does not provide a library service; libraries come under Leicestershire County Council:  http://www.leics.gov.uk/index/leisure_tourism/libraries/county_libraries/a_to_z_libraries.htm
However to our knowledge no libraries in Charnwood have been closed in the last year
